In 1993, RMWD contracted with the State of California, Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (Cal Fire), to provide staffing for local fire and paramedic services. The fire department has three stations located in Ramona: Station 80, located at 829 San Vicente Road - serving the downtown area; Station 81, located at 24462 San Vicente Rd - serving San Diego Country Estates; and Station 82, located at 3410 Dye Road -serving the Highland Valley area.
