Ramona Fire Department Information you need to Know for Vegetation Clearance around Your Property

This site provides essential information to educate property owners about their responsibilities in making their property fire-safe for this fire season, and all year long.

The following documents are provided for your reference in protecting your property. They are in pdf format.

Standard for Vegetation Clearance and Hazard Reduction
This document contains a list of requirements that are enforced by the Fire Department.

Fire Resistive Landscaping
This link provides you a list of fire resistive plants which you can use around your property to help protect it in the event of a fire.

"Outside"
This link contains a checklist of things you can do to improve your home's survivability during a wildfire.

The Fire Environment
This graphic link explains how weather, fuel and terrain affect fire behavior, the likelihood of starting a fire, and how fast it moves along with its power.

Defensible Space
This is a wonderful article that shows the acceptable minimum clearances that the Fire Department would like to see in the 100-foot zone around your home.

The Ramona Fire Department enforces local and county fire ordinances.  The Fire Marshal personally inspects every parcel which is slated for violation enforcement. Violation enforcement will not occur without proper documentation and the Fire Marshal's approval.

Questions concerning weed abatement can be directed to the Fire Department Secretary at (760) 788-2250 Monday thru Friday 8am-4pm.

Property owners are encouraged by the Ramona Fire Department to utilize a telephone directory, Chamber of Commerce or online search engine to contact other landscape contractors experienced in providing brush and hazardous weed abatement services in order to ensure that such services are competitively priced.

Have a fire safe year!
