General Manager Erica Wolski and Director Jacob Zoria attended the conference on September 16th to accept the award from Brenley McKenna, Executive Director, & Dave Pedersen, President, representing WateReuse California (WRCA).
This award recognizes our partnership with our neighbors, the Barona Band of Mission Indians, to provide excess recycled water to the Barona Resort and Casino. The project will beneficially reuse up to 250-acre feet per year or water that is currently disposed at a sprayfield near the San Vicente Water Reclamation Plant and no revenue is generated for sewer district customers for the water that is disposed. Barona currently relies on local groundwater and a small amount of water recycled at the Casino. This recycled water will be used for golf course irrigation and landscape irrigation and will help the tribe protect its limited groundwater supplies. The environmental documents for this project should be released before the end of 2024 and construction will begin on the pipeline between the reservation and RMWD in 2025.
A huge thank you to our dedicated board and staff for supporting this partnership with Barona. Together, we are paving the way for a greener future for both of our communities!
